  •  The religious right which probably constitutes... (8+ / 0-)

... 50% of the Republican party opposes reproduction choice and marriage equality.  They also would like America to be a Christian theocracy.  They continue to try to take over the military (that is why I support the Military Religious Freedom Foundation) and they would like to teach biblical inerrancy and creationism in schools.

Back in the 70s, Republican strategists wanted to get urban Catholic votes away from the Democratic party in a "Northern Strategy" taking advantage of Roe v. Wade

It is sad that religious bigots are still so powerful and so destructive to the future of America.  The fight goes on.

Daily Kos an oasis of truth. Truth that leads to action.

    •  It's also the "they get more rights than I get" (4+ / 0-)

The conservative religious right has pounded on that drum forever. The poster child in Congress is Virgina Foxx (R-churchlady) who railed against the Mathew Shephard bill, not only calling it a staged hoax, but arguing loudly that no law should be passed that gives someone else more rights than others.

And the gullible church-goers buy this nonsense hook, line, and sinker.
