  •  Usually just having a gun (4+ / 0-)

Will run most people off, you don't need an AR15.

That said I think limiting clips would be better than banning them.

But as long as gun sellers use sort of end times porn and paranoia to sell guns, making people afraid there will be a break down of society or zombie attack people will want this stuff.

I'd like it to be more like when I was a kid, when the general gun culture looked down on people who bought that type of firearm as immature. Now people with paranoid fantasies seem to be the main market for guns.

    •  I agree as a gun owner (11+ / 0-)

anything that takes 30 rounds to kill, I don't need to hang around and try to kill (unless I have kryptonite available); but the author mentioning how the little lady needed a 30 round clip to steady her weapon caught my eye.

My grandfather plugged my first Remington 1100 on the grounds that it was permanently legal for waterfowl and that anything I missed 3 times deserved to live.  Otherwise, he said I was a butcher and not a sportsman

hammering the "survivalist wing of the NRA" on this issue.
The NRA still hasn't figured out that this time is different.
I predict they won't get an assault weapons ban, but they will get a ban on big magazines and get the background check and other law enforcement tools they're going for.

You can't make this stuff up.

Gun owners and companies police their own ranks and sort of put a little peer pressure to bear on some of this end times survival fight bs.

I mean part of it is not just the NRA but the GOP itself insinuating that every democrat will take their guns or every democrat who wins president represents an actual threat to the republic.  But, as gun owners, and I am one, I'd like to see some of the people buying these guns get some friendly ribbing for being immature.
