what happened in Adairsville, Georgia today. People pitched in to help one another. And the police have declared a curfew at sunset to protect people's property. It's under control, Wayne. Now go back to hugging your AK-47. I'm sure your wife won't mind.

In an urban setting the same damage + the alienation of the area = potential chaos.

When gas ran out here I saw some rather wild shit at the gas station with cops showing up to restore order pretty quickly.

And that was just a day or two without gas.

A lot of people are closed-knit.

I'm the stupid stranger who helps out but I am wary of scams and traps because some people are dangerous and they will take advantage of your better nature.

owners in NYC handing out shoes to people fleeing the Twin Towers destruction on 9/11 and that was an urban setting.

There are dangerous people everywhere urban or rural, but I've been lucky for 61 years so far, even when I got purse-snatched in San Antonio. My husband chased after they guys shouting, "Stop, thief!" like someone out of Oliver Twist until the guy threw my purse down and ran off. They shouldn't have picked a couple that had a member training for a marathon!

who was trying to kidnap a girl.

Sent him to the hospital and then to jail.

And intervened in a similar situation about a year ago, just outside my work. Guy choking a girl at a bus stop. Wuss.

          Bad people exist.

          •  It doesn't hurt to have done a few (0+ / 0-)

hours working a light bag. Know how to get balance and deliver a good punch. That's all you need.

Learn how to deliver a kick and you're thinking about killing someone. That's too much power. Hard to control.

            Hit good. Don't swing hard.

These events have declined steadily, even in New York, as we have fewer and fewer alcohol babies and less lead poisoning -- fewer out-of-control adult males, looking for fights.

            The 1970s were insane.

"Have you left no sense of decency, sir, at long last?" Army Attorney to Sen. McCarthy, 1954. "We have done nothing to be ashamed of. We have nothing to apologize for." NRA 12/14/2012.
