    to the Kansai peninsula and it was the first time I'd been to Osaka. I experienced Nanba, Umeda and Tennouji personally and was amazed at how seamless the transfers were, how clean the trains are, how polite people are etc. They didn't feel like the busiest train stations in the world. (In fact, I would say that Oxford St Tube in London was the busiest since we were often stopped on the street and not allowed into the station until the platforms cleared in the afternoon rush!).  Less seamless was the ticketing system for the different types of trains - subway, JR, private railways (of which there are several) and Shinkansen. But I'll figure it out better next time (and there definitely will be a next time).
