    The Drug War, and specifically the Cannabis War, is how we deploy troops into other nations these days, and for the last thirty years or so.

    Sure, we could give that up, but I don't think we're going to.

      US can do about pot marijuana prohibition, because of a UN treaty (shoved down other countries' throats by the US itself BTW), while the US openly violates other treaties, such as the aforementioned UN Convention Against Torture - with no consequences whatsoever.

      If the US can openly violate such an important treaty, why not violate a bullshit one?

      If you're concerned about the credibility of the US when it comes to international treaties, don't waste your time. This ship has sailed.
