    Is the DOJ going to prosecute those that flaunt the law?  None of this plea deal crap.  Take em to jail, then to court and then to jail again.

      Convicted felons right now are almost never prosecuted for failing a NICS check when they try to buy a gun... which is a Federal felony all by itself.

      If every failed NICS check produced a police investigation, and a prosecution for real attempts by prohibited persons who tired to buy a gun at a gun shop, that would probably make a decent dent in the problem.

      It's not happening now, and there's no reason to think that it would if all transications went through the system.

      I'm not totally opposed, (I do have some issues with it, but those can likely be legislated around,) I just don't thnk that it'll help much, without some other pieces in place, and nobody's talking about those pieces. It's all "just pass this law."
