  •  I'm sure that everyone has fantasies (9+ / 0-)

in their heads sometimes when these things happen (or, more accurately, are reported on) in which they see themselves with a gun just before it happens, blowing away the perp and saving everyone else. It's naturally to want to imagine such alternate outcomes that would have turned out better. This ability and desire to imagine better outcomes is why, I think, comic books with superheros are so popular with some, and why comic book-like movies like Star Wars are popular too. We'd all go insane were it not for our imaginations.

But there's a reason they call it the imagination. It's not real. It's for coping with the emotional EFFECTS of reality, not reality itself. The real world doesn't work like a comic book. If it did, Wayne LaPierre would be a hero.

    In reality, he's just CreepyWingnutMan.

      •  Well, some variation of it, yes (0+ / 0-)

that doesn't necessarily involve a gun, or even a weapon, in which we could have done something to prevent the attack.
