  •  I used to play chess with a Jesuit (0+ / 0-)

He spake 8 languages, 7 fluently, wrote in 5 with comfort. Along with a wicked middle game in chess, he also would react to rank stupidity with incredibly precise answers and comments. If you had brains, you'd realize how deeply he insulted them. If you were ineffably stupid, you'd think he was complementing you.

The only way I could win or tie was if I plied him with cognac and cake during the games. My normal blood alcohol level outmatched his.

He was also a high ranking office in their sect. A complex, brilliant, and cagey dude.  He knew of my antagonistic views of religion in General, christianity in Corporal, Catholicism in Major, and strong agnostic ideas in Private. Yet, he never tried to convince me to return to the church. I suspect he simply enjoyed time away from the firing line. Some of the philosophical cognac based conversations were mind bending. As only a jesuit could do them.

What we call god is merely a living creature with superior technology & understanding. If their fragile egos demand prayer, they lose that superiority.
