  •  Bad form on Kerry... (8+ / 0-)

I don`t see how it is a reflection on Pres Obama at all.  I assume he told Rice of his decision and had her save face by pulling out.  But Kerry leaking this - it`s about his ego, and not wanting to be seen as the second choice.

He could have said something more like "I don't believe the President's decision was effected by baseless attacks made by some in the GOP against Susan Rice.  She would have been a helluva pick and I would have voted to confirm her - she was my foreign policy adviser during my 2004 Presidential run and is very qualified for SoS.  I look forward to working with her in her continued role at the UN".

I have not clear who was the first choice.

This comment was not necessary as was not necessary the comment of S Rice withdrawing.

Obama would have presented his choice and the appointed people would have think that the selected person was his first choice.

But the withdraw of S Rice make appear J Kerry as a second choice, and I understand he feel not comfort in that situation.

I think it is not necessary to withdraw publicly of a position where you are not and that you need to be appointed for.

S Rice is a great member of the Cabinet but this was not her best comment.
