  •  Re the housework study (5+ / 0-)

Echidne observed that every single media popularization of the study took the same angle:  "Men, if you want more sex, do fewer household chores!"  Not one tried, "Women, if you want more sex do more household chores!"  Leaving aside the obvious (Husbands tend to do more household chores when both spouses work full-time outside the home, hence more likely that one or both will be tired) - it's just amazing that none of the media blatherers considered the possibility that women might want  sex.

    •  The Actual Study (4+ / 0-)

Showed that all those men "not getting laid" were on average doing less than 30% of the "core labor" to run a household.  So women are still doing the overwhelming bulk of the work anyway.

Maybe it's just that men get tuckered out doing less of it /ewg

    •  Because if women wanted sex ... (0+ / 0-)

... they would be having sex!  Women exist in an environment of excess male sexual opportunity - that is why they can afford to be much more selective - another opportunity is just around the corner.

Look, I am saying this partially in jest, but I would not be surprised if current data would confirm this finding.  The feminism of my younger years was all about finding reasons NOT to have sex - because sex was seen as the ultimate physical manifestation of the patriarchical oppression of the female blahblahlah....  Mind you, this was before Ally McBeal and Sex and the City.  Those angry feminists got the message half right - if you want to abolish bad male behavior then STOP HAVING SEX WITH MEN WHO BEHAVE BADLY.  The message that they left out was that if you want to see more good male behavior THEN HAVE A LOT MORE SEX WITH MEN WHO ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING!

Alas, it will never happen.  Feminism is an intellectual framework and sexual attraction is decidedly non-intellectual.

Please do not be alarmed. We are about to engage... the nozzle.
