    Basically the current policy is just a continuation of the old McCarthyist/John Birch "communists have taken over our government and media!" scare tactics. Only difference is now it's "libruls have taken over our government and media!" And yes, they created and have nurtured the myth that the Second Amendment was created for the sole purpose of arming the citizenry for an armed insurrection against "tyrants," i.e. libruls. The fact that this is now mentioned on mainstream news networks as just common knowledge is probably the greatest propaganda triumph of the far right.

    Read Fred Koch's "A Businessman Looks at Communism" (c.1960) for an insight into their worldview.

      What I'm suggesting is that someone figured out how to make massive profits from all of this paranoia, and may be deliberately fanning the fires to keep that money rolling in.
