If someone  from RKBA had said that he would have gotten more HRs than a CT diary involving Satan and teacherken

    Happy just to be alive

It should be reported in any case, no?  If it was somebody here?

      •  The quote in question is addressing the (5+ / 0-)

"thorny" problem of the President of the United States deciding that, under the right circumstances, he can order the extrajudicial execution of an American citizen.

Nobody on dailyKos is advocating a widespread program of assassination.

To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.

          •  Yep. (0+ / 0-)

There is no court in this land that has the authority to pronounce a death sentence upon any citizen without due process of law -- which implies a grand jury indictment, a public trial (with, at the defendant's discretion, a jury), a conviction, sentencing, and an opportunity for appeal.

Anything less than this is a straightforward violation of the Constitution. Any court decision otherwise is a usurpation of power that is not vested in the court. Any executive action predicated on anything less is similarly a violation of the Constitution, regardless of how many members of the power elite sign off on it.

To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.
