  •  Just wonderful. Must have been so (3+ / 0-)

difficult to lose her so young but she left you a great heritage.

    I loved this:

The goal of educating a child, should be to give that child a chance to speak, to hear himself or herself, to reach  whatever goal he or she can aspire to.  If you have not learned how to say what you think, I challenge you to try to write your words somehow.  Paint your pictures, live your passion. Take that first step. Go toe-to-toe with life. Look it in the eye.
Would that all educators would take this goal seriously.

    You write beautifully.

I never felt like I focused on my loss, but people always asked me questions that seemed to necessitate a response that included the fact that she died so young. For me the hardest part was not having a mother grow old, not knowing her past the time when I would have really begun to experience her as an adult. I always wondered how she would have dealt with all the crazy stuff that happened after that year. But then I wouldn't have been out doing half that stuff, so I'd have a different experience, and a different mother as well, as we are  a person only as we interact with others, I think.  Who she was had everything to do with where and with whom she lived.

I can do everything but earn a living.
