anyone who has not been engaged in politics since childhood. That makes Virgin Ben Shapiro and the kid from CPAC the only people eligible for punditry.

Most of the people taking a hard line against us are firmly convinced that they are the last defenders of civilization... The last stronghold of mother, God, home and apple pie and they're full of shit! David Crosby, Journey Thru the Past.

    •  "Since childhood"? Hardly. (0+ / 0-)

But some evidence of interest would show aptitude for the topic, at least. Do you know any master surgeons who picked up a scalpel for the first time 10 years ago? Going to let her transplant your heart?

      Didn't think so.

So why is this man considered head and shoulders above his contemporaries? He certainly seems to think he is, to judge by the way is is dismissive of any opinion which challenges him.

Is not this man open to criticism?

I am not a huge fan of GG and certainly not a defender of his but I do think his defence of himself is pretty fair here.
I have the same complaints about him as you.

My only defense of him is in regards to the claims made in this diary. The Bush lies, with the help of a complicit media, were what people saw. I debated many smart people, even ex military officers, but it wasn't until the media started reporting on the lies well into the war that these people found out I was right and they were wrong. And to this day many of them can't admit that I was right. GG admits that he was wrong and why he was misled.

That applies to many people right here in this thread and on this site, myself included. It seems to be part of the human condition, especially when it comes to politics.

          Me too.

But, then again, we are not help up as icons to a certain ideological segment. You and I do not write with a tone of omniscience and infallibility. Or in a more accurate sense, you do not.

My complaints with Mr Greenwald is that he scolds without recognition for real-world complexities and he offers no real-world solutions. That's the easy part. It's nice to make huge $$$ for an easy gig. That is why paid pundits are so keen to hold onto these gigs.

Thanks for the convo. It is enjoyable but I did say I was going to back out of this diary.
