  •  In current economics, a dollar now is (12+ / 0-)

worth more than one in the future.  At least, that is what the corporates say.  So you're right about corporates saying let the future take care of itself.  (See Bjorn Lomborg for example about not paying today to prevent climate change effects tomorrow).  But the big Chief Executive Officers parade every day on CNBC telling us the government needs to save more dollars now (that is, deny ourselves use of our present dollar for public infrastructure or services) in order to spend later.  Arguing, in effect, a future dollar saved is worth more than a present dollar spent, even on a future earning asset, now.  As usual, they are either idiots or hypocrites, or they think we are idiots.  At least Krugman is consistent in economic theory about spending now to make for a better future.  What he misses is your point, if we don't spend now to avoid a future wrecked by climate change, that future dollar will be completely worthless.  It's like spending money to wreck your health, then spending money to try to get it back.  Many times, the damage can't be reversed.

America needs a UNION NEWS channel. We (unions) have the money, we have the talent. Don't buy 30 second time slots on corporate media, union leaders; fund your own cable news channel and tell the real story 24/7/365
