  •  It's not just the number of deaths. What about (3+ / 0-)

    the survivors, the people whose lives are permanently disrupted due to injuries?  What about the number of crimes that are committed with the use of gun where there is no fatality.

    You're only counting homicides.  Do you just overlook the number of aggravated assaults committed with the use of a gun?

    •  If we want to talk about lives (2+ / 0-)

      then what about all of the people who have used guns in legitimate defense, the vast majority of which don't ever get reported by the media.  We should be talking about the survivors here too, about the lives that were saved from permanent disruption and injury.  

      The original post wants to talk about the insanity of the situation, the insanity is that thinking that if there were some silly law that magically took the guns from the law abiding citizens that urban crime and poverty would disappear.

        English common law.   No one has ever questioned it.  It's not at risk.  Period.
