    his vote against single-payer last year pissed off a lot of progressives.

      but my prediction would be that Padilla's LA base and his latino name should be able to beat Yee unless progressives make defeating Padilla a priority AND no other candidates get into the race. Yee isn't exactly a progressive alternative which is why I am less confident that progressives will decide to back him en masse.

      We definitely need some latinos elected statewide (which I know is why a lot of insiders are pushing Padilla), but yeah that vote is a big reason why I'm not a fan of his.

        especially the teachers unions because he wrote a bill making it easier to fire teachers for misconduct. Since the California Teachers Association is probably the most powerful union in the state, he's going to get baptized by organized labor hellfire if he runs for SoS.

        The problem for Leland Yee is that no one except for people in San Francisco knows who the hell he is. Okay, video gamers too, because he tried to ban violent video games.
