because it is obviously a bridge too far to state that "talk radio" caused this guy to go crazy and kill people.  (Especially since, as a Vietnam vet, his US military experience probably played a role in this.)

It is more like crazy people naturally gravitate to talk radio, and all the hyperbole they hear accentuates their already crazy anger and frustration with the world.

Give them some guns (and some huge ammo clips) and you've got a recipe for the current state of America.

The role of Propaganda radio ("conservative talk radio") on the mental health of America should be part of a national discussion.  But it's obviously not the only player in this culture.  It does take some "sane" people to keep Propaganda radio on the air.  (Advertisers, and business executives.)  The heat needs to be put on money behind  it, not just "talk radio" per se.

That for all the reasons they cite for gun violence they don't include hate radio. This is why sometimes I think the MSM media and the Rushes and Rush wannabes are in cahoots.

    •  so the argument about video games ??? (0+ / 0-)

Do the talk radio profiteers deserve some sort of responsibility for inciting their audiences?

Don't they deserve the same level of blame as a violent video game?

Women are 51% of the population yet are represented in congress by barely 17%! Until our representation reflects the population, we risk sliding backwards .....

although the popular violent video games I'm aware of are even more relentlessly inhuman than even the worst talk radio.

The teenage snuff porn that passes as "video games" now, where you get to realistically torture and murder for fun are pretty obscene.  One can argue over which is worse, but they are both national disgraces.
