  •  Well, there's the medical cost. (3+ / 0-)

Meth, cocaine, PCP...they all seem to cause major health issues. (ER bills, etc.) Then there's driving while high. Or operating machinery, etc. Isn't your argument about drug use being a private matter the same as alcohol being a private matter?

    •  Say someone is dumb enough to go the drug (0+ / 0-)

addiction route, but drugs are legal, would you advocate, then, punishing them solely for the damage they do to themselves.

Reagan first used the "drug use is the most dangerous crime" poppycock. I'm not sure why you want to pile on to that whole craziness (except that it does deflect the discussion).

There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.

Everyone pays for everyone, no matter what. We don't punish people for the cost of smoking.

You failed to answer my questions INRE alcohol.

        •  Of course there is no available philosophical (0+ / 0-)

difference between naturally occuring intixicants, a class that includes alcohol. And alcohol, in case you haven't noticed is legal and we also don't prosecute people solely for the harm that they do to themselves.

So, like I said, pure deflection (what page, again, is this one on in the NRA standard playbook).

I think you failed to read the comment.

I just said we don't punish people for doing legal things.

We don't punish people for the cost of smoking.

            Because it's legal.

If that wasn't clear, apologies. We don't punish people for legal activities with a firearm either.
