Maybe because he plans to run for Governor in 2014 and wants her there. Maybe because he's done with electoral politics and took advantage of a chance to hook up a friend.

Some speculation he changed his mind after the PPP poll showed him up only 3 on Markey, and the undecided were mostly Warren voters. Apparently he was quite pissed last year when, after leading Warren in the polls by a lot, the first poll came out showing a tight race.

Others say he was leaning against it long before that poll. Four Senate runs in hostile territory in under 5 years would be a lot. And apparently he didn't like the actual job of a Senator that much. "Too much work."

Republicans...think the American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire the Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it. Harry S. Truman

    •  it does suck to be a moderate Rep right now (0+ / 0-)

in the Senate from a blue state.

I think Brown must have always felt split in two. What a stressful job with the people pulling you one way the party another. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. This is of course why, with this current extremist Repubican party, a state like MA really NEEDS to have two Dems in the Senate. It more accurately represents us...Brown paid the stressful price for being ideologically innapropriate for the job because the people elected him on an in the moment whim.

Then he'd have to run yet again in two yrs. I can easily think that many would not want it workload or not.

if it is the workload, then obviously he shouldn't want to be Governor either.
