  •  Getting to the nitty gritty (4+ / 0-)

That's what this reads like, to me. Rove is setting himself up to battle the Koch bros, etc. It could become a battle of two sets of deep pockets throwing a lot of money at each other, for a battle of ideology of the GOP. The Baggers will not back down, and I am sure this will only make them dig in deeper, especially if the Kochs keep the money flowing. The bottom line is this could ruin the conservative billionaires, if they keep putting their money into this battle. If they stop putting money into the Baggers, then this will serve to only make the Baggers angrier, and angry at the people they thought were supporting their cause. It may result a GOP party split, the Baggers and their backers forming a new party. This makes sense, in that the backers of the Baggers realize they will lose a lot of money in a battle for the GOP, so better to spend that money forming a new political party.

My take is Rove has started a battle that will only end in a Pyrrhic victory, and maybe a split in the GOP. Somebody is going to lose and get betrayed, big time..

    •  Tea Party History from my perspective (5+ / 0-)

Having observed the nasty birth of the Tea Party frame by frame, I can say that you'all have NOT CONNECTED the dots on Karl Rove's latest move. Here is my take...

      (a) The Democratic Town Halls conducted after the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was passed and signed into law were invaded and disrupted by a number of paid and misinformed senior citizens who were intent on repeal of ACA nicknamed "Obamacare". This was the time when Chuck Grassley was marketing the Republican mantra that "Obamacare will pull the plug on Grandma"! The disruptors at these Townhalls were financed by the Medical Insurance Industry lobby who channeled money into Dick Armey's Freedom Works as part of an onging fight against the ACA. Later on Dick Armey received support from a billionaire plutocratic cabal to mold the rag tag mob of anti-Obama protestors into the Tea Party in a move to capture an expand the growing right wing opposition to Obamacare.

      (b) Dick Armey who had a personal axe to grind against some House Republicans from his days as majority leader organized Tea Party challenges to a number of long serving House Republicans around the country for the 2010 election. IMHO it was Armey's depth of political experience  that directed sucessful campaigns for many Tea Party Candidates.

      (c) In the aftermath of the 2012 election an "internal dispute" breaks out at Freedom Works and Dick Armey resigns. However prior to Armey's resignation from Freedom Works, Karl Rove received an avalanche of negative publicity over the almost 100% failure rate of Rove's Cross Roads backed Senatorial candidates in the 2012 election. But Rove's huge political war chest was still pretty much intact after the election.

      (d) As a lobbist Rove has always been tied to business interests and American business has grown weary of the Tea Party faction obstructionists in the House. They also recognize that if the nation is to experience a new ecoomic boom that these Tea Party obstructionists must be moved out of the way, and the only way to do it is at the ballot box. Thus I believe that Wall Street called Karl Rove and gave him the green light to clean out the obstructionist House members. Dick Armey is out of the way so the mantle of the the prime political mastermind lobbyist for American capitalists has now fallen on Karl Rove. Dots connected.......

started throwing large sums to Birchers to win "safe" GOP seats.

That 's their club, the John Birch Society. They also use JBS as their strongest link to the Mormons and to other rightist organizations.

They expanded Far Right seats from 1984 through 2000 and then got a large expansion in 2010. These are clearly Birchers, not a "tea party."

At present, based on voting patterns, there are 150 Birchers in the House.

Adopting the "Tea Party" tag occurred in 2009 shortly after the Obama inauguration. The original populist teabaggers were replaced with Freedom Watch -- another Koch front operation.

(Business GOP ??? They number a mere 84 seats in the House. Good to swell a progress, adequate to wear the Orange of Boehn. Otherwise, they're non-practicing lawyers.)

          •  Thank you. (0+ / 0-)

We've been working on graphics to display the expansion of their hold on GOP House seats.

Rural seats, particularly, are vulnerable to big money campaigns. These xssholes get their candidates, train them, support them for years, and finance primary campaign after primary campaign.

John Kline in MN-02 is an example. He's a far right Texan. Bircher. Disguises his voting record with his congressional mailers and web site.

Amazing how many "safe" GOP seats have foreign occupants with military/CIA backgrounds.
