  •  Politics has always been messy, eh. (4+ / 0-)

At least they didn't have drones, though. They had to make do with minions.

Also, what's with Richard III having been "de-feeted"? The skeleton is said to be missing its feet.

that the power that the Obama administration has claimed for itself--that it has the right to kill U. S. citizens abroad if it finds that they constitute a vague threat to the U. S.--is not so different from the powers claimed by kings.

sneak itself into a diary won't it.  This Obama drone trolling needs to stop.  Sorry, I'm not backing down on this.  Keep to the damn topic.

a Republican drone problem. No hurry. Besides, it will in all probability have grown into a real problem by then.

I am related to Richard III as well as Elizabeth I (on her mothers side), but other relatives of mine fought long, hard and successfully to create this country, to make it something fundamentally different from the monarchies of Europe.  My soul is not with monarchs, but with the people that fought to create a new kind of nation.  Now rule of law is optional; a new aristocracy is ascending.  Speculation about Richard III and Henry Tudor is entertaining and I thank Jorybu for the diary, but I live in the present and I was really struck this morning about the regression that has taken, and is taking, place.

No one, I don't think, is absolutely sure of facts: but I read that the scientists supervising the Car Park King's dig have theorized that Richard III's feet and lower legbones had been lost as an artifact of the various demolitions and constructions on the former Grayfriars site over the centuries. Apparently, some sort of knowledge that Richard III has been buried (somewhere) there had been preserved for quite a long time (there had been a memorial there in the 17th Century in a garden of a house that had been built later), but the exact location of the grave was lost until 2012.

Feet and finger bones, being fairly delicate, are the most likely loss from old skeletons -- that and there are some small animals that will eat and/or scatter them.
