    buggery in "The Spike" etc. I didn't pick up that vibe. Though I'm straight and probably wasn't looking for it. The scenes that stuck with me in that great book were the ones about the dishwashers- the "Plongeurs". That they took such pride in the thankless task that was their life. Amazing.
