The diarist would have us believe that those characteristics he describes as having "no functional difference whatsoever" are exactly the same characteristics various military organizations over the past 70 to 80 years demand be included in the firearms they use.

He wants us to believe that they're a bunch of weapons fashionistas. Just specifying and buying weapons with characteristics that have "no functional difference whatsoever." They just love the fashion.  Function be damned.

    Yep. You bet.

The gun manufacturers know these "cosmetic" features cause these firearms to leap off the shelves into the cradling bosom of the he-est of the he-men.

Hey, so am I but how's the manufacturer's marketing scheme fit in here?

Are you saying that promoting a device for sale should be illegal?  Especially a device that one could not exercise an unalienable right without?  Or is it just the specific model being marketed you don't like?

I'm a bit confused.  Does this mean we can ban any ballpoint pens and force people back into using a quill and inkwell?

Should we ban any and all Bic commercials?  Those 4-color pens drive me crazy! And "erasable ink", PSHAW!  It's false advertizing!

And don't get me started on paper "whiteness" scales.  "Eurobright" and "UltraBright" and their "numbering system", what the hell is 96 Brightness? Or 92????

Remember when you couldn't sign your name in anything other than black ink??? Who made up these false rules???  I recently had a "bank teller" tell me that I had to sign spelling out my full middle name and NOT my middle initial when signing a check.  I looked at her and said, "Then it won't be my signature."

        She huffed away.

Seems to me you're argument reminds me of that bank teller, sadly.
