    There is no doubt that actual interference with a federal officer in the pursuit of his/her duties is a crime for which the sheriff could be arrested. However, none of us know what "not be tolerated" really means. It could be another strongly worded letter to the editor of the local paper. Who knows? Until the sheriff actually breaks a law, there isn't much anyone can do. He holds an elected office and can only be removed by recall or on election day.
