    detained?  Maybe none. But almost certainly some. But due to national security concerns we will probably never know for sure. And that should worry us all.

      government can now target people for assassination, and then keep the reasons secret, then lawyers can expand the legal argument for those who may present a grave threat to the system, and then people can just drop death from a "heart attack" or just be found hanging, etc.

      I know that sounds crazy, but we have cross the Rubicon into absurdity.

        and have them killed while they are being secretly - and indefinitely - detained.  No need to suicide people or slip poison into their food.  They just disappear and noone ever hears from them again.

        And I would hasten to add that the US has not reached this point of totalitarian fascism (that I am aware of).  But I hope that no one actually needs me to link to historical examples of regimes that did exactly what I described in the first paragraph.  

        Whether this country is on that trajectory can be debated.  But I think it's clear which camp I fall into.
