    less judgmental about that is because more of them realize that a person's body, including their brain, is merely the substrate that their consciousness runs on and that it is a person's consciousness/mind that really matters.  After all, many people over there have been living with things like Ghost in the Shell for quite a while so perhaps some of that transhumanist philosophy has rubbed off on them (and let's face it, compared to the idea of having your brain transplanted into a fully cybernetic/mechanical body or even uploaded into a computer, the kind of transition you are talking about is minor).
