  •  I wonder if anybody has made an attempt (4+ / 0-)

    to quantify the heat that is being produced by all our vehicles and industry and electric lights.  Not only are greenhouse gasses trapping the heat, but we're producing a lot more heat.  The combination is going to be lethal.

      Our heat generation is just a 'blip' compared to the total solar energy input:

      Solar    3,850,000 EJ
      Wind    2,250 EJ
      Biomass potential    100–300 EJ
      Primary energy use (2009)    510 EJ
      Electricity (2009)    62.5 EJ
      The extra solar energy retained due to increased CO2 levels far outweighs the extra heat we produce, at least on a global scale.

      Locally, energy use can affect temperatures, the 'urban island' effect, but that really only matters when trying to construct a uniform consistent temperature record.
