    It's impossible to guess what Anderson was thinking at the time. Had he decided the husband was guilty, wanted to make sure 'justice' was done? Was he just looking for a way to tie up the case and be done with it? Could he just not be bothered? Was he not really paying attention? Did he just screw up?

    It's like something out of a bad novel, the way lives can twist and turn on one decision, even years later - things you couldn't possibly have known at the time.
