    Most people never consider that the people in the states can call constitutional conventions themselves. It's the will of the people that gives it force.

    If you don't believe me, consider how we got our current Constitution. A bunch of people came up with a plan and asked the states to approve it. When a sufficient number did, it simply shouldered aside the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union.

    So much for continuity.

    Of course, if you think an Article V convention is a long shot, obviously this is longer. However, a long hard push for a complete replacement might put enough political pressure on politicians to move things in the right direction.
