        ...for starting to chew out my friend, stating that if he hadn't been stopped and detained, the captain would have been in hot water.

        Another of his stories I remember was a security practice drill, where he was assigned to be an intruder, and dressed in dark clothes and issued an unloaded M-16, was sent into the woods at Lakenheath to see if the security people could catch him.

        So he climbs up a tree, settles down on a big branch, and waits and watches the path. First security guy comes along, glances up, sees my friend pointing the M-16 at him with a big smile, gesturing for him to sit down. According to the rules, the security guy was dead. I think he got two more before the end of the exercise, and the CO of the security section wanted him to transfer there, but he said no.

        Being in the Air Force didn't do much for his alcoholism, and that got him discharged, ultimately.
