  •  Yes, I can see your point(s) and (0+ / 0-)

I can agree with some.  Again, I will mention I am a music publisher and visual artist and have only respect for others in the same fields. Me thinks you are preaching to the choir.

I am doing the 'due diligence' with the photo as we speak, and if I thought I was infringing on the anyone's rights, copyrights or otherwise, I would never have used it.  I do admit to diverting attention from the story, by responding in defense to your original comment. Sometimes mum really is the best word.

For now, and at this point in my life, I am learning to choose my battles (debates) and with this one, I will remove the photo and move on.  I do think the photo enhances this diary, and their story, and even brings potential business and advertising to the station's site. That said, my goal is not to argue, but to express my views in diary form, in a way that will ultimately benefit.

of the woman looking through files, and replaced it with one of my own paintings, which I think fits the diary's attitude (and may fit some of my other diaries!). Yes, I'd rather look like a shameless self-promoting visual artist, than an unintentional copyright infringer. :)

      Thanks and Peace out...

By the way, I had a friend, who followed some of the reporter's  suggestions to try and  'bargain' with the doctors and withhold some of the information requested. She was told,  flat out, "No!? They said they needed it all.  Interesting. I wonder how I would have reacted. Looking forward to my next visit to the Doctor... or am I? (It's late)

I'd insist on knowing exactly what they intended to use it for, in other words, why they needed each bit of data. If they had a good reason (like say, my DOB, I think they have a good reason to have), I'd give it up. I could perhaps see that if I'm named Emily Smith, they might want a SSN to differentiate me from the 40 other Emily Smiths that they have as patients. (But I have a unique name, so that wouldn't apply in my case. )

Without a valid reason, I'd walk (and I might even complain to an appropriate entity or two about the physician refusing to treat me because I'm not providing info that they can't give me a good reason that they "need" it).

There are plenty of doctors out there.  I certainly don't want to treat with a doctor who doesn't respect my privacy concerns.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

        •  Here was her note to me (anonymously) (0+ / 0-)
"Well, they had to have ALL my info for me to even get in to see the doctor. Booooo. I tried.... I complained. But it didn't help cuz the girl at admissions was like 20 and just doing her job.... thanks for sharing this info though...."
          (I'm smiling...)

I suppose it depends on how badly one wants to see a particular doctor. At least she tried.

I do think we need to keep asking why. So much of what we do goes without question, because 'it's always been done that way'. That's why I published this diary. Perhaps it's time to challenge this particular system.
