  •  Such an ass (14+ / 0-)

Really.  For all the batshit insane people on the right, it really is a contest who can be the biggest asshole.

Foxx is right up there as one of the dumbest creatures to ever walk the halls of Congress.

    •  What you say about her is much too nice. (4+ / 0-)

      republican mental illness.

If there were a way to declare them insane most of America's problems could be solved easily.

Instead we treat their insane positions as something that needs to be argued w/facts.

If only lefty commenters in the media spoke about the rights mental illness and laughed at their insane attacks on reasonable positions.

Everything the right does in public is designed to distract from the theft their billionaire masters are stealing from society.

Virginia Foxx is mentally ill and she is treated as though she were just wrong.  No, she's a threat to civilization.

      •  She's in denial (0+ / 0-)

Is it impossible for her to see this is a dishonest and unethical response to her protection of her personal financial interests, having nothing to do with the good of students or the country? Yes, I guess it is.

        GOP.

which means it's become their normal. no doubt the founding fathers & mothers would be stunned, to find out that all their hard work has led to the inmates actually being in control of an asylum. they weren't exactly paragons of virtue, but still...................................

        •  In fact you're right. The republican (0+ / 0-)

party is mostly run by sociopaths.
America's biggest problem is republican mental illness. How many examples do we need (voting against food for the hungry, medical care for the sick, unnecessary wars, etc.)?
And, we're not supposed to talk about it.
There is virtually no issue, that if republicans were removed, couldn't be resolved relatively easily.
Time to point the finger at their insanity and discuss it openly.
That's not to say there aren't some mentally ill dems (ie.Max Bachus, Mary Landrieu and a few others).

...all except for college/resort town of Boone, it's all rural and small-town.  Many of the early drivers on the NASCAR circuit were from this area (and learned their skills running moonshine, e.g. Junior Johnson).  My wife is originally from the heart of the 5th district (Elkin/Dobson area).  The people tend to be proud, stubborn, and insular, and the ornery contrarianism of their congresswoman appeals to their sensibilities, and their own rather knee-jerk conservative sensibilities.  Also, this particular corner of the state has always been considerably more Republican than the rest of the state, even back when Democrats otherwise completely dominated state polictics and offices.  Many of these folks don't follow the details of politics and policy close enough to realize how insanely dumb Ms Foxx seems to much of the country; they have a fairly insular perspective of her.

SHORTER VERSION: The majority of the voters in N.C.'s 5th Congressional District unfortunately have the congresswoman they deserve, given their insular perspective and knowledge level.

Watauga County didn't vote for her in 2012.

        •  If Dems get to redistrict in 2020... (0+ / 0-)

...they should radically reshape a contiguous district including both Asheville/Buncome Co. on its southern end and Boone/Wautauga Co. on its northern end.  Such a district would likely have enough blue voters to overcome the section of red-leaning mountain/far western piedmont counties they'd need to include between those two counties.

Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure how a map could be drawn that wouldn't concede at least two of the kind of red-wingnut leaning districts that elect the likes of Patrick McHenry and Virginia Foxx across the western piedmont.  However, we might have to look at that concession as a feature, rather than a bug; pack as many of the most backwardly reactionary voters in as few districts as possible in order to create a more favorably competitive environment for dem congressional candidates across the rest of the state in other districts.

virtually all of it in the Republican Party.

It's funny. I was at a meeting tonight about how we are going to evict Republicans from statewide office in ohio in 2014, and I was talking with some people about how intelligent, knowledgable, and hard-working some of our officeholder and candidates are. There were people there like the terrific and tireless Nina Turner whom you may have seen talking about voter suppression with Ed Schultz and Rachel Maddow. Her IQ is probably about triple that of Virginia Foxx's.
