  •  Mrs. Pozner is a devout Jew (9+ / 0-)

And Jewish customs around burial and treatment of the deceased are very strict. Viewing the body of the deceased is seen as disrespectful, and only something that immediate family should do in order to identify it before burial. The fact that Ms. Pozner was willing to defy that tradition is a big deal-but she did it so that the most powerful lawmaker in our state could see him, and what was done to him, and so that visual would stay with him any time a law came to his desk and he, as a representative of the people of this state, had to sign it. She is also making the world see what happened to him through her powerful and very vivid description of the condition of his body, and by refusing to sanitize his death.

If that is not someone who wants the world to see, know, and understand what happened to her son, I don't know what is.

And yet, very not the same, and very not in support of the diarist's thesis.
