A very very long time ago I managed a furniture store. I was very proud of our showroom and kept it immaculate.

One day a van pulled up and a family got out and came in and browsed the store. When they left the dad opened the back of the van, took out a paper bag of trash, opened the door to the store and set it inside. He didn't say a word while we stood at the back of the store and watched him do this. I should also note that the center where the store was located had trash cans available for customers outside along the covered walkways.

Once they drove away I had an employee get the bag of trash and we went through it. We found several bills and other identifying information with a consistent address. We lined a cardboard box with plastic and put the bag of trash inside. On the very top I put a note, written in large letters:

You left this bag of trash on our doorstep and we're returning it to you so you can dispose of it properly.
I sealed up the box and mailed their bag of trash back to them. I never did receive a thank you note.

And don't get me started on the time I chased a woman down and made her come back and remove a dirty diaper she left in the restroom trash can...

People not picking up after themselves is one of my biggest pet peeves and I won't hesitate to call anyone on it if I catch them in action. It's inconsiderate, rude, and just plain disgusting to leave or dump trash for someone else to deal with.

Can you clarify that, please? What is a more appropriate place to discard a dirty diaper than in a restroom trash can? Where was she supposed to put it?

It was not a public restroom. She made no attempt to rinse out the dirty diaper. She just tossed it fully loaded into the open trash can for all to enjoy. I had her remove the diaper, place it in a plastic bag, and throw it in the large dumpster behind the building.

I have zero tolerance for tossed baby diapers. You find them left everywhere these days; in parking lots, along nature trails, outside restaurants. It's disgusting that people aren't prepared when they're dragging their babies around town. Get a goddamned diaper bag and carry your baby shit home.
