    Even before I was sexually abused, I wanted to be a detective. Forensic nursing is more about evidence collection, preserving the crime scene when it is in the form of a living body that has been impacted by violence. My experiences make me  more empathetic and I think that will help me be a better nurse.

    I still have a few more years to go though, before I'm going to even be finished with my BSN. I am now, for the first time ever, in intensive, regular treatment with a trauma therapist who I really connect with. I also go to group therapy for DBT. I plan on continuing that, and when it comes to the point where I need to make a final decision about pursuing that career path, I will be better equipped.

    And one of the great things about nursing is if it ends up not being the right job for me, I can just choose another path. Many nurses work in a variety of different settings before they find a "home", some are always changing.
