    How college admissions officials weigh such things.  They aren't unaware of the curricula <--I had to look that up ;)  ...so, what sort of...pity?...do they take on kids who, through no fault of their own, come up through craptastic school systems?

      that their test scores might not be up to par in certain subjects; most schools have placement tests along with the SATs to determine what classes they need to fulfill minimum requirements.
