As a former girl scout: yes, the Girl Scouts has been through this.  They are pretty mild about their support, mostly saying that sexuality isn't a topic for scouting, but in the sense that they don't care and everyone is welcome.   They've also officially gone on record welcoming trans* girls.

FYI, it's the GSUSA, not the GSA.

The Gold Award is very similar to the Eagle Scout rank, except that it is set up as an award and not a rank -- the only ranks in Girl Scouts are age-based.  It has similar requirements -- merit badges, community service/leadership, and a final project to improve the community.  I didn't go for it; I got my gold Leadership pin but not the other two parts.

I see Eagle Scout on resumes a lot; I don't see the Gold Award much because people don't know what it is, which is a shame.
