    they're actually quite interesting conceptually and symbolically. Formally, they are rubbish, but they do show a complexity beyond that of most Sunday painters.
    Thanks for the diary. I put links up on my fb page, because most of my 'friends' are either artists or critics. No one could be persuaded to touch the subject with a barge pole.

      introspective, and not at all bad for amateur work. Notice that Bush in the shower is not facing the mirror, but looking off to the right. The face in the mirror however, is looking straight at the viewer (us), not at Bush himself. The stream of water (cleansing, purifying) flows between Bush and the mirror he does not confront.

      I'd say that Dubya is a better painter than he was a President -- though admittedly that's setting the bar pretty low.
