    Johnson mainly won in 2008 in a sympathy vote due to his stroke. If health problems return, it could be an open seat.

    Republicans are far more socialist than Democrats. Just because they want to redistribute the wealth upwards does not make it any better.

      He didn't have the stroke until after the election. I believe it was early 2009.

        He won in 2008 because he is popular and even in SD they were disgusted with the republicans. My guess is he will retire because he will have a tough time running against the former governor who is interested in running.
        I still think picking up six seats is going to be hard for republican  I think if democrats hang on to just 50 seats, in 2016 they will have a great year. Also you know the republicans will field some terrible candidate like Steve King.
