In both cases doctors who hadn't examined the patient were making big public diagnoses.

    It's the same exact thing.

    •  You're being obtuse (6+ / 0-)

but you're obviously entitled to your opinion.

Maybe some will share it, but I think it's ridiculous to compare the two.  They are dramatically different in tone and scope.

      •  this dialogue (5+ / 0-)

would not be taking place if Chris Christie were a Democrat. In fact, the outrage would be reaching operatic heights.

I don't care if CC is fat. He's a sucky governor - and I do care about that. He may have aspirations for higher office, and I care about that, too. His fatness - none of my business.

This kind of discussion only serves to martyr Christie and make us all look like the worst sort of hypocrites.

        •  Christie is a public figure who aspires (7+ / 0-)

          to high office in Washington.

Dr. Mariano called his health into question.  I believe other physicians across the world would agree with her assessment.  She was asked in a public interview to comment.  She did.  Her assessment is medically sound.  Adults carrying as much weight as Christie run higher health risks than those who are leaner.

Christie's calling her at her private residence to call her a hack has nothing to do with his being a Republican or Democrat.  It has a lot to do with his being a jerk.

        •  I don't even care about the weight issue (7+ / 0-)

what I care about is his response to the whole affair.

He is a loose cannon who is unable to control his temper.  He made a public spectacle of himself on David Letterman, specifically talking about his weight, and then acted like a spoiled toddler when it didn't turn out exactly like he had planned.

He wants to talk about his weight, but he doesn't want to talk about it.  And he made a fool out of himself calling that doctor, who has now gone public with the information.

And, like Christie, you started off this whole conversation about his weight and now try to claim it's everyone else's fault for focusing on it.

If you want to blame someone, blame Chris Christie.
