  •  It's easy for thin people to tell us that we're (7+ / 0-)

lazy because they have never had to essentially starve themselves for the period of time required to go from fat to thin, or try otherwise simple things like running with the added physical stress to bones and joints that an extra 100lb or more brings.

Losing 30lb is a piece of ...ummm... kale by comparison.

there are many options available to him,
no need to starve himself, just lay off the donuts and ice cream
he could hire a personal chef to supervise his eating
he could build an indoor lap pool in his house
      sorry, no excuse

          •  What am I making excuses for? (2+ / 0-)

            I'd really like to know.

            Certainly not myself.

Weather permitting (and sometimes not) I do 50 mile bicycle rides (sometimes more) 2-3 mile walks, and 1 mile runs.

The runs do reflect the reality of my weight, but that's not an excuse. It's prudence.  It's not very smart to injure yourself so that you can't exercise.

Thin people, of course, tend to be smugly stupid about such things.

            •  it sounds like you are making excuses for him (0+ / 0-)

there are ways for someone of his position to avoid the problems of excess strain on joints etc due to exercise such as I described - it's not an issue for him so no need to bring it up

I have no idea what is health is like, or what he does to keep it up.

I was just referring to the church lady types who aren't happy unless they are clucking at us for doing something they themselves do with regularity -- or not doing somethign they themselves couldn't or wouldn't do.

                •  the conversation is about Christie (0+ / 0-)

no need to insert yourself into it think it's about you

if you mean by 'like what', what excuses - the fact that you're bringing up the strain on joints exercise incurs - why talk about it if it's avoidable for him? perhaps it's an issue for you but we're not talking about you here, only you are

For some people, changing diet and increasing exercise doesn't do much. Some of us vigorously exercise on a regular basis and eat VERY healthy while still seeing zero change on the scale.

The doctor made an educated guesstimates about Christie and his health without ever having any first hand knowledge of his health history. She deserved a good verbal smackdown.

No, I don't like Christie. I don't agree with him politically. But I don't give a shit about his health, either.  How the fuck this ended up as front page fodder is beyond me.

    •  Indeed. (0+ / 0-)

I've bounced around with my weight and right now, I'm just eating the good stuff and getting the occasional exercise. (Though right now, I have to say that it's pretty hard when there's snow and ice around and you're not the most coordinated person on the planet.)
