      Fingerprinting and background checks have been among requirements to obtain a NYS "License to Carry Pistol" for decades. Never bothered me, or other licensees.

      Many banks require prints to cash a damn check --- seems reasonable to me to have prints on file to qualify for purchase of weapons and ammunition.

      What is your objection?

      freak out about these infringements on privacy and civil liberties--but only when it involves guns.

      I've been battling against this sort of shit since Reagan et al instituted piss tests, and there's never been this sort of outcry, not even when the government says it can throw people into indefinite detention for the crime of knowing the wrong people.

      As soon as guns come into it, there's screams of "Tyranny!" from sea to shining sea.  I guess it's because the bottom lines of various corporations are at stake.
