  •  It was possibly the largest rally in Annapolis (5+ / 0-)

From what I heard the fire marshal closed access to the state house because of concerns of fire safety.  Anyone else allowed inside would mean that in the even of a fire it would take too long to evacuate the building.  As I understand it, its the first time this has ever happened.

    •  definitely not the largest rally (0+ / 0-)

I think this is misinformed. I was in the State House the entire day. There was never more than a few tourists and regular staff folks in the building.

Even the crowds outside were no more than four or five hundred. A couple years ago, after Walker, the unions had a rally that filled the public mall and the surrounding streets fanning out in all directions for at least a quarter mile. This was a mini rally by comparison and their numbers are being vastly overstated in the media.

If any building had to be closed, possibly the house committee chambers, which are moderate size committee rooms that fill up fast for anything from death penalty to pit bull hearings, and they don't just admit massive crowds with nowhere to go once they reach capacity.
