    the fact remains----your odds of being attacked in your home by a homicidal stranger are . .  uh. . .  not very good. Your odds of successfully defending yourself with a gun against a homicidal stranger are very much lower than that.

    I do understand that people are paranoid about all sorts of things that have very low probabilities of ever happening to them (just look at all the prepper kookjobs who have been preparing for everything from Communist invasion to super-volcanoes to meteor strikes to Kenyan dictators for half a century now.). And the gun industry makes its money by playing to that paranoid fear of the enormously unlikely.
