  •  us too, onomastic (9+ / 0-)

we're in the ny catskills, eastern slope, and have gotten some inches of snow, and a little wind, so far

no loss of power, etc., thankful for the luck

very glad to learn that you up there in new england are so far not as bad off as was expected

our house also is surrounded by very tall pine trees, and in the spring of 2011 one five story tree broke in a mini tornado and would have fallen on the house, except another tree took the hit and spared us

we've never seen such wind as in the last few years

    •  No, we haven't. (8+ / 0-)

      It gets wearing, doesn't it?

We don't want to cut the trees down. They create an oasis out back. They frame our back yard. They make our back yard. There's a hammock hanging between two of them for hot summer days.

That's where the old fashioned brick fire place for grilling is. It's where the grand boys play and where we sit around on summer nights.

But I really don't want to keep dealing with worrying about one of the trees coming down on the house.

That almost happened during the Patriot Day storm a few years ago.

One of the pines came down and missed the house by ten feet.

Worrying about such things has really gotten old. :(
