I picked up some seeds at one of the local nurseries. I'm unfamiliar with it but I thought it was cool that I could feel the beans through the package.

    •  Not that kind in particular, (2+ / 0-)

but I imagine that they grow pretty much the same as any other pole bean. Give them something to climb on, and you should get both pretty flowers, followed by dinner.  ;-)

I'd plant them now, though. They might not do so great once your temps start hitting 90° or so. Those broad leaves will lose a lot of moisture, stunting the plant.

AT least you won't have the usual problem we get with beans here:  soil that's too cool and wet.

A cold front is supposed to come through on Monday night and knock our daytime temps back to normal. The odd part is the overnight lows will be colder than normal with a few nights dipping into the mid to upper 30s. The weather is totally weird anymore.

Once the nights stay in the 40s I'll plant them. It shouldn't be more than a couple of weeks before it really starts warming up.

Yea, i know.  Jocularity can be fickle.

I've never grown this type in particular, but i'm inclined to say you should use your liquid fence liberally around the area.  Has a deer ever met a garden bean it didn't love?

that the deer have been noticeably absent for the past few months. The reason is another neighbor moved away back in November and thus the "deer trough" they had in their backyard is no longer there so the deer have no reason to come around.

        Yay!!
