  •  Propaganda. (31+ / 0-)

Methedrine itself is not a bad drug. It was invented to fix the problems with Dexedrine and it did. We feed Dexedrine to millions of kids every day under the brand name Adderol, among others, complete with it's well known side effects and deficiencies, while this vastly improved drug, available under the name Desoxyn, is almost impossible to get.
And the only reason for this is propaganda. (You can thank Richard Nixon for our completely 4ssbackwards approach to Drugs and Drug Users.)
Street Meth, made by people who don't give a fu(k about their consumers, THAT'S bad. And the only reasons that it exists are that 1) it's tightly restricted and 2) there is a demand for it. Unintended consequences of prohibition, again.
And I don't believe that locking up the drug cookers and their distribution chain will do any good at all, there will simply be new people in those same spots the next week. The only way to end the drug crimes is legalization and regulation.
And the revenue bonus from taxing drugs plus the reduction in costs to States and the Feds by ending the persecution and mass incarceration of non-violent offenders will add up to surpluses very quickly.

If I ran this circus, things would be DIFFERENT!

is not fit for human consumption!  The ingredients are a series of industrial and household cleaning supplies.  The laboratories (??) are back yard garages and storage sheds.  There is no semblance of sanitation.  Take a little bit of pseudoephedrine, add some antifreeze, mix with some Drano and lithium strips, dissolve the lithium strips with some anhydrous ammonia fertilizer, pour in some liquid starter fluid (ether), vaporize the fluid and add some common table salt but be careful not to breathe any of the deadly hydrogen chloride gas, and then you have some product you can sell and trade.  Good deal!

      I don't think so.

Dick Cheney said, "Pi$$ on 'em!" And, Ronald Reagan replied, "That's a Great Idea. Let's Call it 'Trickle Down Economics!"
