I've never been a fan of either Hickenlooper or Ken Salazar, but these Oil and Gas men have been  'assisted' by what I consider a less-than-informed public.

In the 2012 campaigns, the San Luis Valley often heard about 'developing our own energy sources', and the jobs these 'sources' would create, but nothing - I repeat, nothing - about the environmental price we would pay.

(Rio Grande Country/Del Norte has a gas well being proposed for San Francisco Creek.  Unfortunately, although said well is in the County, it's on Bureau of Land Managment acreage, and the best we RGC'ers can do is make our voices heard.)

The 'Colorado COmmunity' group here at DKos is meeting in Denver next Sunday, the 24th (see link...above? :-) ) at Ernie's Restaurant.  This would be a great topic to include in our discussion.

'politicalmetrics' is right - Hickenlooper is a popular governor, and just for that reason, let's aim for the bigger target and if we 'enlighten' a few politicians lower down, so much the better.
