  •  Envy is not an attractive characteristic, (12+ / 0-)

however, pandering to the envious seems to work for FOX.

That said, I want to use this opportunity to point out, once again, that voting is not a right, it's one of the obligations of citizenship.
Of course, the Cons, who want nothing to do with obligations of any sort, prefer to argue it's some sort of privilege and a valid basis for setting up a segregationist regime. Now that it is politically incorrect and one risks public oprobrium for discriminating on the basis of superficial personal characteristics, citizenship is sort of their last hope.
True, unlike our human rights, the Constitution does outline the obligations of citizens, we the people who govern. We are counted on

    to vote
    to serve on juries
    to petition for legislation
    to hold public office
    to provide material support
    to enforce the laws

Btw, the first and last actually go hand in hand because in voting we force our public officials to comply with the law or get voted out of office. The pretense that candidates are in charge of their own selection and hiring needs to be thrown out. Paying more attention to the voters is a start. If that diminishes the 'star power' of political candidates, so be it.

We organize governments to deliver services and prevent abuse.
